Aaron Pyne

Elven Wizard & Founder of Mead Quest
West Coast, USA
www.aaronmichaelpyne.com

Aaron Pyne, the Elven Wizard, is a modern-day alchemist reviving the ancient majik of mead. For almost two decades, he has been on a quest to restore the sacred use of this golden elixir—once revered in rituals, ceremonies, initiations, and healing practices. Mead, a gift from nature itself, carries the wisdom of the ages, yet much of its majikal essence was lost over centuries of suppression. Aaron believes it is time to remember, to reclaim its true power, and to honor its role as a bridge between realms, consciousness, and transformation.

Blending myth, meditation, personal empowerment, joy, and deep majik, Aaron weaves together immersive mead experiences that transcend the ordinary. Each gathering he leads is infused with intention, creating a sacred space where mead becomes more than a drink—it becomes a portal to connection, healing, and awakening. Whether in the warmth of a firelit circle or beneath the open sky, Aaron guides participants on a journey where laughter and reverence coexist, where the wisdom of ancient traditions meets the personal awakening of the modern seeker. Through his work, he restores the soul of mead, inviting others to drink deeply of its mystery and remember the majik within.

Frank Golbeck

Founder at Golden Coast Mead
Oceanside, CA

Frank’s grandfather made mead. When he was 8 years old, Frank watched his grandfather transform a grumpy, scary looking old man into a laughing, friendly, story teller with two small one ounce pours of mead. Frank loves making and sharing mead to light up people’s lives, regenerate the earth and create a sharable abundance. In addition to founding Golden Coast Mead, Frank is the Co-Chair at Mead Institute and Vice President at Regenerative Apiculture Working Group. Golden Coast Mead is Southern California’s first mead company.

Founded in 2010, Golden Coast Mead specializes in lighter bodied, refreshing, floral forward, balanced meads. Their lactobacilius fermented sour meads are their most popular line of meads, with numerous awards including the US Honey Board’s designation as one of the 20 most influential honey based libations of all time. Golden Coast Mead has helped over 30 different mead companies and brands bring their mead visions to life and strives every day to create a global, regenerative, mead ecosystem.

Crafted Artisan Meadery
Mogadore, OH
www.CraftedMead.com

Crafted Artisan Meadery is dedicated to producing highly drinkable, modern mead that is made for everyone. We believe in creativity over tradition. We believe that the quality of the liquid behind our labels is the most important thing to our customers. We believe that making a quality product does not mean taking yourself too serious. And we believe you shouldn’t have to donate plasma to afford a great bottle of mead. We exist to make mead as accessible as possible to as many people as possible and we’re having a blast doing it.

Crafted’s story starts in North Carolina where Kent Waldeck came across mead in Charlie Papazian’s Joy of Home Brewing and made his first batch with honey purchased from a beekeeper selling at a roadside shop near Blowing Rock, North Carolina. It was a rough (but super enjoyable) experience. What started as a random experiment turned into more and more meads being produced with greatly improved results. Between 2009 and 2012 Kent would plan, implement and self-fund Crafted Artisan Meadery with Crafted ultimately opening it’s doors to the public in June of 2012.

Slaymaker Cellars

I grew up in the wine industry and was always curious about why fruit wines were so darn sweet. I started homebrewing fruit wines and learned there is nothing wrong with dry fruit wine. This interest eventually lead me to making dry, wine style meads. I had been a distiller and cheesemaker, so meadmaking made sense as a next step. After moving to Idaho Springs, Colorado, my wife and I started Slaymaker Cellars. We are now an award winning, employee owned meadery with statewide distribution, nationwide shipping, and a tasting room in downtown Idaho Springs.

Why Mead?

Mead, an ancient honey wine, was used throughout the ancient world for healing, ceremony, and celebration. This sacred elixir is woven into the very tapestry of mythology, spirituality, and our connection to the natural world. Eventually, for economic and other reasons, it’s use passed into myth and legend. In modern times, epic heroes have heard the call to bring this ancient majikal drink back to life to bring it’s benefits back for both the people and the planet.

What is Mead Quest?

Mead Quest is not just an event; it’s a movement, a living mythos that draws from the ancient past while charting a course toward a sustainable, vibrant future. At Mead Quest, we’re reigniting the ancient flame of mead-making and celebrating its deep connections to history, mythology, and the natural world. This online summit will gather enthusiasts, artisans, historians, and visionaries to explore the multifaceted world of mead—its origins, its symbolism in ancient cultures, and its potential to shape a sustainable and thriving future.

Majik of Mead

Mead is our chosen symbol, a conduit of transformation, and a reminder of the bounty and beauty that surrounds us. From the first touch of pollen on flowers to the dance of buzzing bees, from the golden alchemy of honey to the final creation of delicious mead, each step invites us into a sacred relationship with the cycles of life. This golden nectar not only nourishes but also calls us back to our true nature—as stewards of this great and beautiful Earth.
